12 September 2023 – Hyundai’s electrified charge continues with a pair of new all-electric
models set to star at this month’s Melbourne EV Show.
All-new KONA Electric will make its Australian debut and IONIQ 5 N will make its first
Melbourne appearance, following its recent track debut at Sydney’s World Time Attack
Challenge with Drift King Kenichi Tsuchiya at the wheel.
The Hyundai stand will also showcase newly crowned 2023 World Car of the Year IONIQ 6
and 2022 World Car of the Year IONIQ 5.
“The Melbourne EV Show will provide a terrific showcase for our exciting new range of
electric vehicles,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Officer, Ted Lee.
“With all-new KONA Electric and the high-performance IONIQ 5 N, alongside our World
Car of the Year-winning IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, the Hyundai stand will highlight our
continuing commitment to bringing advanced electrified vehicles to Australia,” he said.
Held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, the Melbourne EV Show will
present new and soon-to-be-released electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, as well as
charging options and accessories.
The three-day event from September 22-24 will also feature EV Live presentations, a
Formula E race car, Formula E simulation challenge, as well as an e-bike and scooter test
track.
KONA Electric
Forthcoming KONA Electric will complete the all-new KONA line-up and boasts a choice of
powertrains (99kW &150kW), with up to approximately 500km of all-electric range
(64.8kWh battery)*.
KONA Electric is packed with technology, including active air flaps, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)
outlet, Head-Up Display (HUD), i-PEDAL driving mode, Smart Regenerative Braking
System, battery pre-conditioning, heat pump and battery heater.
It also features over-the-Air (OTA) software update capability and an extensive suite of
SmartSenseTM driver assistance and advanced active safety technology

IONIQ 5 N
As Hyundai N’s first EV, IONIQ 5 N represents a new segment of driver-focused high
performance EVs through the integration of new technologies and elevated racetrack
capability.
IONIQ 5 N elevates the three pillars of N performance by leveraging motorsport-bred
technologies and years of electrified ‘Rolling Lab’ development:
- Corner Rascal: Body and chassis reinforcements provide high torsional rigidity and direct steering feel, enabling rally-inspired dual-motor AWD cornering, with N Drift Optimiser among an array of tech that enhances performance & driving fun

A special one-day pre-sale event (September 15), in the lead up to the Melbourne EV
show, will give eager enthusiasts the opportunity to be among the first in Australia to take
delivery IONIQ 5 N.
Customers will be able to order IONIQ 5 N online via the Hyundai Australia website ahead
of initial deliveries in Q1 2024 – vehicles will be built to order in each customer’s chosen
combination of option(s) and exterior colour.
